Now, You're Probably Wondering How You Can Get Started on This Process

Let me explain.  A smile-makeover can be as minor as teeth whitening - or as complicated as replacing lost teeth with implants, treating periodontal disease, replacing fillings and crowns, using the laser for gum reshaping, and making sure your "bite" is comfortable and even.

To help you decide what you want and to explore what's available for you, we have you first meet with our treatment coordinator, Cindy. Before making an investment in your mouth, you may want to "kick the tires," to make sure we're the office for you. In that case, you will call and schedule a 30-minute complimentary consultation with Cindy.

Once you've decided that we're the office for you, you'll schedule for your exam with Cindy and Dr. Coker. They will look at the outside of your teeth with something called an intraoral camera and then they'll take digital x-rays to look at the inside of your teeth and a panorex x-ray which reveals in greater detail the upper and lower teeth and parts of the jaw in a single image.

Your carotid arteries which are located on each side of your neck, pass through the region visualized on the panoramic x-ray, making it possible for Dr. Coker to view whether you have any significant blockages, which appear as patchy white spots.  This is called early stroke detection.  They'll also make models of your teeth and then they'll see how your teeth fit together.  You will be checked for decay, oral cancer, and gum disease.

Actually this is one exam you will enjoy - and we even offer you a hot wax treatment for your hands - just like a spa!

After your exam, you'll be scheduled to come back in for a consultation.  In the meantime, Cindy will meet with Dr. Coker to go over your  models and your records and they will develop an "ideal" treatment plan.

During the consultation visit, they will explain all the findings to you, address YOUR concerns and offer treatment options.  They will also be able to tell you about the cost.  Then, together you will decide on the order and the amount of treatment you want done.  Financing options are explained at this time and a schedule of your treatment sequence is completed. 

Depending upon your treatment plan, your first visit may be to prepare your teeth for your new smile.  During that preparation visit, you will be offered nitrous oxide to help you relax and headphones so you can listen to your favorite type of music. At the end of this appointment, you will leave the office with beautiful "temporaries" - your trial smile. This is the day that you walk in with your old smile and walk out with your new one!  During the first week with your new smile, you will look at it, feel it, and decide whether there are any changes you want to make.  This is the time to make sure it's just like you want it.  Adjustments can be made to your temporaries at this time to make sure everything is perfect.

Once you're satisfied, your case is then sent to our dental lab for fabrication.  Our lab is not just a regular dental lab, but a lab that actually specializes in smile designs.  These lab technicians are artists and they take all the information we send them and develop that into your beautiful smile.  When this process has been completed, you will be scheduled for a "seat" appointment.  Your "temporaries" will be removed and your permanent smile will be placed.  Let the fun begin!

 Dear Dr. Coker,

I am writing this letter to tell you and your staff how happy I am with my new smile. I feel like a new person, and I am truly grinning from ear to ear all the time.

As a child, I took medication that made my permanent teeth gray and "spotty." When I was in my early teens, I had my front teeth bonded to even out the color. Because it had been ten or more years since I had this procedure done, my teeth were no longer looking as white as they once had. In the past five years, the discoloration had begun to bother me, and I believe that it affected my ability to smile - I didn't want to.
As a gift to myself, I made an appointment to see you to have my teeth cleaned and to find out more about bleaching. After talking to you that day, I felt like I had just visited with the miracle worker. Not only could you whiten, you could straighten, too! I began the process of veneers within a week. We bleached my lower teeth, replaced six of my top teeth with veneers, straightened my lower teeth, and realigned my bite. The total process took about eight weeks. I can tell you that I have never had a more positive dental experience.

Not only are my teeth everything I could have hoped for and more, you and your staff were outstanding. Twice my temporary veneer came off. I felt comfortable calling you at home to let you know, and you were more than willing to make time for me to come to the office, once at 6:30 in the morning. Not many doctors or dentists arrange their office hours at times convenient for their patients. You do, and this made a huge impression on me.

It is really hard to write a letter that expresses my satisfaction and gratitude. Looking back on my eight week "smile beautification" period, it was such a simple, enjoyable process.
