Lighten Up! Teeth Whitening from Tyler Smiles
Just talk with us about your desires and objectives. We’ll discuss with you the criteria for best results, recognizing that some people are simply better candidates than others for a successful whitening treatment. Once you and Dr. Coker have determined that teeth whitening is the way to go, you then have two options in our Tyler, Texas dentist office. We offer Zoom!® Whitening in-office whitening, or our take-home whitening kit.
Zoom! is a quick, tooth whitening process that lightens discoloration of enamel and dentin. You may have seen the Zoom! process used on ABC’s Extreme Makeover show.
The complete procedure takes less than two hours. The procedure begins with a preparation period followed by 45 minutes of bleaching. (A cleaning is recommended prior to the actual Zoom! whitening session.)
The Zoom! light-activated whitening gel’s active ingredient is hydrogen peroxide. As the hydrogen peroxide is broken down, oxygen enters the enamel and dentin, bleaching colored substances while the structure of the tooth is unchanged.
The Zoom! light aids in activating the hydrogen peroxide and helps it penetrate the surface of the tooth. A study has shown that use of the Zoom! lamp increases the effectiveness of the Zoom! gel by 26% or more, giving an average improvement of up to eight shades.
For the take-home kit, we’ll take an impression of your teeth, have comfortable, lightweight ‘trays’ created by our laboratory, and provide you with careful instructions for your at-home whitening sessions. We’re terribly picky about the fit of the tray, as well as the specific type of chemical gel we use, so that you’ll be more than pleased with the results for years and years to come.
Although we can’t predict exactly how light your teeth will become, we generally expect to see a two-shade improvement as indicated on our shade guide.
To set up your Zoom! teeth whitening appointment, just call the office at (903) 581-1777, or send us a message on our “contact us” form. While you’re here, be sure and sign up for Dr. Coker’s monthly e-zine. It’s a great way for us to “keep in touch.”
